At Guiding Thread, we are committed to helping homeschoolers discover the tools that will guide them through a life-long pursuit of truth.
When Theseus entered the labyrinth to fight the Minotaur, he needed Ariadne's thread to help him find his way out again. The world is a bewilderingly complex place, and we all need strong threads to keep us from getting lost.
Mathematics is one such thread; poetry is another. As Christians, we believe that the Bible is one of the most powerful threads of all. We provide supplemental resources to help homeschoolers develop the necessary reasoning skills so that they can make the most of all of these threads.
We are not a school, and we do not pretend to offer a comprehesive curriculum. Instead, we work with families to help them achieve their own educational goals through online classes and tutorials in subjects that benefit from communal learning and/or specialized knowledge.
We believe that the soul learns best when it does so freely, and without compulsion. Our online classes are designed for committed, independent learners, and in order to preserve an atmosphere of freedom, we do not assign grades. We do provide extensive feedback on assigments, and are happy to discuss each student's progress, but each family remains responsible for their own goals and evaluation.
